MAX Orange Line Route Description

MAX Orange Line runs 15 minutes or better most of the day, every day.

MAX Orange Line is one of five light rail lines in Portland. It runs along a fixed track way stopping at designated MAX stations, including some Transit Centers and Park and Rides. Orange Line is 7.3 miles long, running from Portland City Center to Milwaukie and Oak Grove in North Clackamas County. On the Portland Transit Mall along 5th and 6th avenues, it shares tracks and stations with the Green and Yellow lines between Portland State University and Union Station.

To Portland State University and Portland City Center

Orange Line travels north from Southeast Park Avenue Station: Stop ID 13720, located on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard and Park Avenue in Oak Grove. This location also has a Park and Ride. It stops at each of the following stations in the order they are listed:

Milwaukie/Main Street Station: Stop ID 13721, located on Southeast 21st Avenue and Main Street in Downtown Milwaukie.

Southeast Tacoma/Johnson Creek Station: Stop ID 13722, located off Southeast Tenino Street and McLoughlin Boulevard. This location also has a Park and Ride.

Southeast Bybee Boulevard Station: Stop ID 13723, located on Southeast Bybee Boulevard near Southeast 23rd Avenue. This station is accessed via elevators.

Southeast 17th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard Station: Stop ID 13724, located on Southeast 17th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.

Southeast 17th Avenue and Rhine Street Station: Stop ID 13725, located on Southeast 17th Avenue and Rhine Street.

Clinton St/ Southeast 12th Avenue Station: Stop ID 13726, located on Southeast Gideon Street and 12th Avenue.

OMSI/ Southeast Water Station: Stop ID 13727, located on the east end of the Tilikum Crossing Bridge and Southeast Water Avenue. Transfer to Portland Streetcar A and B Loops one block north.

Orange Line crosses the Willamette River via the Tilikum Crossing Bridge.

South Waterfront/Southwest Moody Station: Stop ID 13728, located on the west end of the Tilikum Crossing Bridge and Southwest Moody Avenue. Transfer to Portland Streetcar North-South Line one block north on Southwest Moody Avenue.

Lincoln Street/Southwest 3rd Avenue Station: Stop ID 13729, located on the 300 block of Southwest Lincoln Street.

Orange Line enters the Portland Transit Mall, continuing through Portland City Center as a Yellow Line train to Expo Center and serving the following stations on the Portland Transit Mall.

PSU South/Southwest 6th and College Station: Stop ID 10293, located on Southwest 6th and College Street. This is the first stop to serve Portland State University.

PSU Urban Center/Southwest 6th and Montgomery Station: Stop ID 7774, located on Southwest 6th and Montgomery Street. This is the last stop to serve Portland State University.

Southwest 6th and Madison Station: Stop ID 13123, located on Southwest 6th and Madison Street.

Pioneer Courthouse/Southwest 6th Avenue Station: Stop ID 7777, located on Southwest 6th and Morrison Street. You can transfer to MAX Blue and Red Lines across Southwest 6th Avenue on Yamhill and Morrison Streets, between Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest Broadway. Trains on Yamhill Street travel eastbound to Gresham and Portland International Airport. Trains on Morrison Street travel westbound to Beaverton and Hillsboro.

Southwest 6th and Pine Station: Stop ID 7787, located on Southwest 6th Avenue and Pine Street.

Northwest 6th and Davis Station: Stop ID 9299, located on Northwest 6th Avenue and Davis Street.

Union Station/Northwest 6th and Hoyt: Stop ID 7763, located on Northwest 6th Avenue and Hoyt Street. This is the last stop on the Portland Transit Mall. Most trains continue across the Steel Bridge and onto North Interstate Avenue along the Yellow Line tracks to Expo Center.

To Portland City Center and Milwaukie

Yellow Line trains cross the Steel Bridge onto the Portland Transit Mall continuing as an Orange Line. Orange Line travels south from Union Station/Northwest 5th and Glisan MAX Station: Stop ID 7601, located on Northwest 5th Avenue and Glisan Street. It stops at each of the following stations in the order they are listed.

Northwest 5th and Couch Station: Stop ID 9303, located on Northwest 5th Avenue and Couch Street.

Southwest 5th and Oak Station: Stop ID 7627, located on Southwest 5th Avenue and Oak Street.

Pioneer Place/Southwest 5th Avenue Station: Stop ID 7646, located on Southwest 5th Avenue and Yamhill Street. You can transfer to MAX Blue and Red Lines two blocks west on Yamhill and Morrison Streets, between Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest Broadway. Trains on Yamhill Street travel eastbound to Gresham and Portland International Airport. Trains on Morrison Street travel westbound to Beaverton and Hillsboro.

City Hall/Southwest 5th and Jefferson Station: Stop ID 7608, located on Southwest 5th Avenue and Jefferson Street.

PSU Urban Center/Southwest 5th and Mill Station: Stop ID 7618, located on Southwest 5th Avenue and Mill Street, next to Portland State University’s Urban Center. This is the first stop to serve Portland State University. You can transfer to northbound Portland Streetcar North-South Line and A Loop in the Urban Center Plaza. You can transfer to southbound Portland Streetcar North-South Line and B Loop directly across Southwest 5th Avenue.

PSU South/Southwest 5th and Jackson Station: Stop ID 7606, located on Southwest 5th Avenue and Jackson Street. This is the last stop to serve Portland State University.

Orange Line exits the Portland Transit Mall.

Lincoln Street/Southwest 3rd Avenue Station: Stop ID 13710, located on the 300 block of Southwest Lincoln Street.
