Public Art Advisory Committee
Call for creatives to help guide art-in-transit projects in our region.

About the Committee
TriMet’s Public Art Program is seeking applications from local professionals such as artists, designers, architects, landscape architects, curators or people with considerable experience in the visual arts, to participate on its Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC). The committee includes up to six members who live in the TriMet service district, with two members each from Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties, who volunteer for two-year terms. TriMet is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of our agency and operations, including advisory committees.
PAAC’s role is to advise the Public Art Program by providing guidance and recommendations on project development, artist selection, artwork proposals and deaccessions.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Committee member responsibilities include:
- Attending Committee Orientation (January 2024; final date to be determined)
- Attending hybrid meetings during business hours once per month or as needed
- Reviewing materials in advance of meetings
Members must meet the following criteria:
- Considerable experience in the visual arts
- Commitment to supporting artists and arts and culture
- Adept at listening to others and a willingness to thoughtfully express one’s opinion
- Recognize the importance of multiculturalism and equitable practices
- Understand and appreciate public process and community engagement
- Commitment to humanizing the transit environment and surrounding neighborhoods
Members also preferably meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of contemporary public art and practices
- Demonstrate a familiarity with TriMet’s Public Art Program and collection
