Building a Better Hollywood Transit Center
As part of our goal for making our region one of the world’s most inclusive, sustainable and livable places, TriMet is partnering with BRIDGE Housing to create a community-centered transit-oriented development at the Hollywood Transit Center. In conjunction with TriMet’s major infrastructure improvements to the transit center, BRIDGE Housing aims to deliver a 100% permanently affordable housing building on a portion of the site. Construction: Late 2023-2026.
Construction continues through late 2026.
Through fall 2024, crews are working on the new ramp and stairs, improved crosswalks and a new bus shelter on NE 42nd Avenue.
BRIDGE Housing begins construction on the new building in fall 2024, continuing for about two years.
During the second half of 2026, crews will complete the plaza, walkway, new bus stop on NE Halsey Street and other amenities.
Hub for Transit
The project will modernize the transit center to seamlessly connect bus, bike, MAX and shared mobility options. This includes moving the bus stops onto NE Halsey Street. The new bus stops will feature weather protection, TransitTracker™ and a welcoming, accessible pedestrian connection to MAX. Currently, buses are on a three year temporary re-route to accommodate construction. The power substation for MAX — originally installed in 1986 — will be replaced, along with upgraded lighting, signage and public spaces that integrate the transit center with the Hollywood neighborhood.

Hub for Equity
The hollywoodHUB apartments will provide inclusive and equitable housing near transit. The project was awarded $31.95 million of affordable housing bond funding from the Portland Housing Bureau's 2016 and Metro's 2018 bond programs, the largest funding award to date for an affordable housing project in Portland.

The affordable housing project will bring 222 new units of affordable housing within steps of buses and trains. -
Design and construction
TriMet and BRIDGE Housing share ambitious goals for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Minority-Owned, Women-Owned, Service Disabled Veterans Business Enterprises and Emerging Small Businesses participation in project design and construction. TriMet’s prime contractor is Raimore Construction, a federal and Oregon certified MBE & ESB, with minorities comprising more than 80% its staff, including all supervisory and management personnel.
