COVID-19 and Transit
Fresh air ✔️
More cleaning ✔️
Here’s what you need to know about safe travel with TriMet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What we’re doing
Following the science
We’re working directly with the CDC and Oregon Health Authority to keep our riders and employees safe.
Providing good ventilation
Trains and buses are disinfected daily. We hired over 100 new cleaners in 2020 to help us with cleaning.
Providing masks and hand sanitizer
Free masks are available on all our buses and trains. Hand sanitizer is available on all our buses, WES trains and LIFT vehicles.
Protecting our employees
We’ve installed operator safety panels on all buses, added a second yellow line six feet from the operator and hosted vaccine clinics for our employees. We rigorously clean employee work areas and we provide PPE for employees.
What you can do
Wear a mask
Masks are required on all buses and trains per federal law. If you don’t have a mask, please take one from the dispensers on all our vehicles. Failure to wear a mask may result in denial of boarding, removal, or penalties under federal law.
Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer
Practice good hygiene and frequently clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is provided on buses, WES and LIFT.
Stay home if you’re not feeling well
Don’t risk accidentally spreading the COVID-19 virus. Please stay home if you’re not feeling well.
Use touchless fare options
Touchless payments like Hop and contactless credit cards mean less opportunities for COVID to spread. Get started with Hop.
Vaccination is the best protection against COVID-19 for you, and for our community. Find a free vaccine near you.
