Dr. Marie Equi

Dr. Marie Equi was one of the nation’s first female doctors and an activist who fought for women's suffrage and eight-hour workdays. She was passionate about providing medical care to the working-class and the poor. Learn more

Darcelle XV

Darcelle XV was an author, playwright and actor who owned the nation’s longest continuously running cabaret. Her career as an entertainer spanned 55 years, landing her a Guinness World Record as the oldest drag queen performer on the West Coast. Learn more


Virginia Linder

Virginia Linder

Virginia Linder is the first openly lesbian member of a state supreme court in the U.S. She served as the 99th justice of the Oregon Supreme Court (2007–2016). She is also the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected as a non-incumbent to a state supreme court. Learn more


Jeana Frazzini

Jeana Frazzini

Jeana Frazzini is an activist and former executive director of Basic Rights Oregon. During her tenure there, Jeana led a transformative process to integrate racial and transgender justice into the organization’s culture and priorities. Jeana is currently the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships at Forward Together. Learn more


George Nicola

George Nicola

George Nicola is a community historian and co-writer of equal rights legislation in Oregon. He is known best for writing and lobbying for Oregon’s first gay civil rights bill, House Bill 2930.


Donna Red Wing

Donna Red Wing

Donna Red Wing was a lesbian pioneer who led a successful campaign against Oregon Measure 9. The measure would have prohibited public schools from encouraging, promoting, sanctioning or instructing on homosexual or bisexual behaviors.


Kathleen Sadaat

Kathleen Saadat

Kathleen Saadat is a community organizer, women’s rights activist and mentor to Portland’s LGBTQ+ and Black communities. Learn more


Gail Shibley

Gail Shibley

Gail Shibley is the first open lesbian to join the Oregon state legislature. She was appointed to the Oregon House of Representatives in January 1991. Learn more


Danny Rosen

Danny Rosen

Danny Rosen is a trans trailblazer in Oregon. They have been an active participant in local community advisory committees, including the Portland Police Bureau’s Crisis Response Team. They are currently serving as GLSEN Oregon Chair, an organization that works to ensure that LGBTQ+ students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment.
