Accessibility Features for Riders who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

These accessibility features can help riders who are deaf or hard of hearing get around on buses and trains.

Accessibility features

  • Many MAX stations (as well as bus stops on the Portland Transit Mall) have digital displays that show you when the next vehicle is expected to arrive.
  • Reader boards inside trains (and many buses) show the name of the next station.
  • On the bus and the Portland Streetcar, a sign near the operator lights up when a stop has been requested. (MAX and WES trains stop at every station automatically.)
